The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is a Netflix show adapted from the original series Sabrina the Teenage Witch. In this darker iteration of the show, Sabrina Spellman goes through a coming-of-age story as she navigates her years at Baxter High and her life as a witch with her aunts, Hilda and Zelda, and her cousin Ambrose.

The show begins in Greendale when Sabrina’s Dark Baptism is looming over her head. This is the day a witch signs their name in the book of the beast. For Sabrina, this decision is much harder because she must choose between her witch studies and her mortal life and friends Roz and Susie, not to mention her very mortal boyfriend Harvey Kinkel.

Sabrina is still a bubbly girl in nature who cares for her friends deeply, but the show explores a darker side to the character as she is tested by evil forces whose objective is to keep her an outsider to the witching world.

Throughout the show we see Sabrina’s interaction with her mortal friends and her witch friends change dramatically, as she adopts a darker persona that fuels her decision with the whole coven, her friends and her family.

Major character development takes place between her mortal friends even when Sabrina doesn’t share a scene as if signifying her divide between the two worlds which grows as you learn which part of herself becomes more important.

To see how her story plays out, watch Part two which has just arrived on Netflix.
