As they near the end of the school year, seniors are gearing up for something much more daunting than their impending adulthood… the BSHS Water Wars.

The Wars have been in the planning stages for weeks but are now finally in full swing. The official first day of this water-oriented battle was on Monday the first. What better day is there to begin this battle than April Fools day? The object of the game is to eliminate or “kill” members of the other teams using water. Whether the weapon of choice is a water gun, water balloon, or a simple cup of water does not matter: if you’re hit, you’re out.

This year’s war came with new leaders and new rules. For the first time ever there is a cash prize of $850 to be split between the first, second, and third place teams, as well as the single player with the most kills total. The placement of the winning teams will be decided upon based on each team’s overall kills. There is also a newly added factor of 1-2 celebrity players every day. These players are chosen at random by the organizers of the event, their names tweeted out daily at 8am, and they are to be targeted within the next 24 hours by the rest of the players for three points each.

The first kill of the game took place on day one. Jasmyn Hall, of the team Hose Your Daddy, eliminated Nick Borrero of the Sharks team with a water gun Monday morning after waiting outside his house for him to leave for school. While awaiting her target, Hall used every precaution to make sure she would come out on top in this confrontation. “I was honestly really nervous that I would end up being the first one out, but thankfully it all worked out” Hall said.
